Black History is celebrated every year, in February, at Eastside.
Bro. Dontae Whitfield and Sis Vernita Cox work diligently together to ensure this day is special. Beautiful African attire is worn. There’s Black poetry readings, singing songs of Old Negro Hymns, Black History stories told to our children and others about our ancestors and the struggles they endured while fighting for their rights. We later fellowship with one another and enjoy feasting on delicious Soul Food.
